Kilimanjaro and Moshi Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Your journey begins with a one-hour drive from the hotel to Marangu Gate for registration and obtaining entrance permits. Following this, you’ll continue driving for about two hours to Rongai Gate. Here, you’ll enjoy lunch and meet your Kilimanjaro crew.

The trek starts by passing through the village of Nalemuru, where you’ll traverse fields of maize and potatoes before entering the alpine forest. The trail ascends gently through a picturesque forest that is home to various wildlife, including Blue Monkeys and Black and White Colobus Monkeys.

By late afternoon, you’ll arrive at Simba Camp, located at the edge of the rainforest, where you’ll spend the night.
Day 2
After breakfast, you’ll begin a steady ascent toward Second Cave. This section offers a gentle and enjoyable hike through stunning landscapes, with plenty of time to take in the surroundings.

Upon arrival at Second Cave, you’ll enjoy a well-deserved lunch and relax for the afternoon. In the evening, you’ll embark on a short nature walk to aid acclimatization, allowing your body to adjust to the altitude.

Afterward, you’ll return to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay, preparing for the next day’s journey.
Day 3
After breakfast, the day’s trek begins with a walk across a flat section of the trail, followed by a gradual ascent. The path becomes slightly steep before descending slightly as you approach Kikelewa Camp.

Today’s journey offers stunning views of Kibo Peak and the eastern ice fields of the crater rim, providing a taste of the incredible sights to come. Upon arrival at the camp, you’ll enjoy lunch and have time to relax before settling in for the evening.
Day 4
After breakfast, you’ll begin with a short but steep climb up grassy slopes, which reward you with stunning circular views and a real sense of wilderness. The trail continues upward to Mawenzi Tarn Hut, where you’ll enjoy lunch and take in the breathtaking surroundings.

In the afternoon, a nature walk will be offered to aid acclimatization, allowing you to explore the slopes of Mawenzi before returning to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay. This acclimatization trek is crucial for preparing your body for the higher altitudes ahead
Day 5
Today’s trek takes you across the saddle area between Mawenzi Peak and Kibo Peak. This is a significant section of the climb, as it will be your last water point. Along the way, you’ll pass the remains of a plane crash, a poignant reminder of the mountain’s history.

You’ll stop in the middle of the alpine desert for a picnic lunch, soaking in the stark beauty of the surroundings. Afterward, you’ll continue to Kibo Camp, where you’ll have an early dinner and a chance for a well-earned rest before the challenging summit ascent the following night.

At 11:00 pm, you’ll wake up for tea and snacks, then dress warmly for the summit. The climb starts with a gradual ascent through volcanic scree, leading to a steep zigzag trail up to Gilman’s Point (5,685m) for a short rest.

From Gilman’s Point, continue to Stella Point (5,756m), where you’ll rest, take pictures, and enjoy the sunrise. You’ll then join hikers from Barafu Base Camp and head together toward Uhuru Peak (5,895m). At the summit, you’ll spend 10-15 minutes taking photos and enjoying the view.
